You have until August 15 to comment on the borough Regional Comprehensive Plan Update.
This is one of the most important things you can comment on. This document helps guide the borough for years to come. So make sure to comment, even if it’s just a short comment.
The plan update can be overwhelming. To help you, I have created two documents with suggested points to make. One focuses on both trails and active transportation. The other focuses just on trails, since not every trail user cares about active transportation, too. (The trails-focused document has some active transportation points, but far less than the second, which includes points about roads.) See links to the documents at the bottom of this post.
- My definition of trails includes dirt, gravel, paved, water, and snow trails including all that are motorized and nonmotorized.
- My definition of active transportation is any kind of transportation in which the person is the main source of energy. That includes but is not limited to biking, walking, running, skateboarding, roller blading, and wheelchairs.
Of course, a plan with this scope covers much more than just trails and active transportation. Feel free to comment on other things.
Even though I have tried to be very selective in putting together my suggested points documents, this can still seem overwhelming. If you want to comment, but don’t have the time to go through all my bullet points, I suggest using any of the bullet points in the first part of each document and letting planners know that you support any action that supports trails and/or active transportation. Heck, you can even write a simple comment like that. “I support any action that supports trails” or “I support any action that supports trails and active transportation.” Any supportive comment is better than none.
Commenting
The comment period is open until August 15
When commenting make sure to say what you think has been done right. Planners want to know that. And give reasons for any comments you make. That helps guide the planning process.
You can comment several ways:

- The online form limits you to 1,000 characters per “chapter,” so that’s better for shorter comments
