At the next Fairbanks Borough Assembly meeting (Aug 8), the assembly will be voting on an ordinance to fund reroutes of trails in the Chena Lake River Park Trail System. If you care about these trails, please speak up.
The local funding ($17,500) is actually match funding for a $157,600 federal grant. I expect the Assembly to pass it, but it’s always good to speak up for trails.
The Chena River is eroding its bank in that area and several trail sections are being seriously affected by the erosion. (If you don’t know about these trails, here’s a map.) These are non-motorized multi-use trails in summer and winter.
Here are links to the meeting agenda (The ordinance is item c. under 13. Special Orders) and the ordinance.
